I offer a unique style of portrait commissions, based on fabric that fits your home interior and colour scheme.
Regularly I paint one subject with shoulders/upper body, face only. I can work from an approved photograph supplied by you (see instructions below). Please reach out for a quote as the fee depends on the painting size.
Please note that I work on a 500 Euros non-refundable deposit upfront, and the balance is due upon completion of the portrait.
Please email me to align on lead time and fabric choice.
Camera - Preferably use a camera. If you must use a phone, please ensure to not use wide-angle settings as it distorts the facial features. Selfies are a bad choice as they are generally too close and further distort your face.
Light - Make sure the photograph is taken without a flash (this tends to flatten the features of your face) and not in harsh sunlight (you automatically squint which creates shadows). Defused late afternoon light is more flattering and you appear more relaxed with softer shadows. If you take the photo inside, or in a studio, set yourself up near a window or place an artificial light source.
Smile – You can gladly smile, but NO big toothy smiles! As teeth are bright, they distort the portrait from what you really want to show: your eyes, which are the most important aspect of a portrait (at least in my perspective).
Style – Dress as you like to represent yourself. Make sure you are sitting or standing comfortably and dressed in something you love; your hair should be styled in the way you prefer.
Signature piece – You can wear a hat, sunglasses, or anything unique to you – or I can add a matching flower behind your ear or in your hair.
Facial expression – Please play with angles to bring out the best of your features and take your time until you love the expression of your face on your picture.
Resolution - The photographs must be in high resolution to enable seeing all the details.
